FULL DAY
EXPERIENTIAL EXCURSION OF THE SECCA DELLE FORMICHE MARINE RESERVE IN CAPO ZAFFERANO -7H

The coast around Palermo is full of wonders, discover them with us during this boat tour to Capo Zafferano and Secca delle Formiche.

Starting from the Porto dell’Arenella we will head east, having a splendid view of the Gulf of Palermo.

This area is full of fish, so we can also prepare our fishing gear and hope to catch something! Our first stop will be the Baia dei Francesi, a small rocky cove reachable only on foot or by sea famous for its intense turquoise waters.

We will then go around the promontory and admire the Arco Azzurro, a natural arch inserted in a beautiful inlet.
The coast from now on will become rocky and jagged, frequently interrupted by small inlets, such as those nicknamed the Piscine, where we will stop for another refreshing swim.

When you get hungry we will serve you a light lunch, which you can enjoy on board. We will then set sail for the Scarpone, also called Napoleon’s Hat because of its shape that resembles the bicorne of the famous leader.

We will then head towards Sant’Elia and from there we will set sail towards the Secca delle Formiche. This shoal is actually an underwater mountain, which rises almost 60 meters from the seabed.

Various boats have sunk at this point over the millennia, and the area is populated by a huge variety of fish, which you can admire thanks to our snorkeling equipment.

We will then return to the coast and reach the Castello di Solanto, of Norman origin. After a last dip near the castle we will return to Palermo, having an overview of this extraordinary coast.
